I'm going to document my Windows-Ubuntu switchover. This is probably boring for a lot of you. Ha ha.
Todays Discovery:
Gimp cannot read .pspimage files... not sure what I'm going to do about that just yet.
Activity one: Upload last nights bento photo to Flickr.
In windows I used Flickr's photo uploader - you could right click images and choose 'upload to Flickr.' It would also resize large graphics without a fuss.
Ubuntu:
I used the photo import program for my little Canon - pretty slick. I don't usually use a program, I just transfer files 'by hand' (don't you like my terminology?) but it was so easy... ja, sounds good to me.
I found, and downloaded, a Linux based Flickr upload tool called jUploadr... I don't know how to install it -_-; In fact I don't recognize most of the file extensions... The documentation is asking me about Java but I don't know what I've got. Tried to use a terminal to find out - failure, failure, success! Ok, cool.
....
OK, I just found a Flickr uploader in the Ubuntu Add Programs app. Jeez.
Lesson One: Try Ubuntu first.
Lesson Two: Set your expectations low.
So, the Flickr uploader doesn't resize or enable right click posting... which makes it pretty worthless for my needs. I have needs.
Alternatives - the online non-flash Flickr uploader doesn't resize, the flash version might. I don't have flash yet.
I'm going to have to pull out the Gimp. I hate the Gimp.
-----------
Alright, I admit, that was the least painful Gimp experience I've ever had. Still, kind of a pain to resize images in Gimp and save them to a new location.
Conclusion: I'm tired.
But I did get my photo posted.
