    Ophthalmology

So today commemorates my first day back on the job in over a year.

Last night I couldn't wrap my head around going to work.

Today I couldn't wrap my head around continuing to go to work...

"...I'm really going to come back here, tomorrow...?"

Honestly everything is just dandy. The office is really nice and the staff are super friendly. The job itself is significantly 'harder' than I remember Spruce St being, but it's been a year since I thought about it, so... who knows. All I do know is that I have to remember schedule preferences for 10 doctors working three different locations... oh and I have to know your insurance coverage. I think that was the biggest surprise - you expect me to know the benefits and coverage for every patients that comes in...

    seriously?

    Yep.

    Ooh-kayy.

You're really not joking about that, hun?

    Nope.

Don't get me wrong. I could memorize the Gettysburg Address, backwards, in French - if you asked me to. But really, do I have to?

Today there was some confusion regarding the coverage of a refraction procedure being covered under the Aetna network. Apparently, if the patient is coming in for a full exam, but had a medical diagnosis (as opposed to a screening diagnosis) then the refraction fee ($45) is waived, but only under our Aetna contract. Otherwise, if you come in for a refraction, or a refraction and an exam with a screening code, then you have to pay the $45. I think. Ok, I don't know. I've only been there for one day. And I spent 90% of my time reading about eye-balls and eye-ball-related-diseases.

But some magical person in that office makes coffee in the morning, which is pretty sweet.
