David and I were doing laundry last night. Out of the two full loads, all I had washed were 4 shirts and a handful of thongs. David looks over at me, piled with 5 collared shirts, 4 T-shirts, a pair of jeans, shorts, 7 pair of boxers and an equal number of socks. "What did you wear this week?!" he asks incredulously.
I have some general rules about washing clothes.
1) You only wash your work clothes when they smell. So really you shouldn't have to wash your pants all that often - since your underwear should be picking up your daily kooge. And seriously, if you just keep track of your butt you wont sit in anything.
2) You shouldn't wash you play clothes until they're crunchy. Why worry about smell - you're just wandering around your house - honestly. And don't get clean play clothes dirty until the previous set is in the wash.
3) Only wash your dress clothes if they're smelly. If you stay home, you'll never need to worry about it.
4) Don't wear socks.
Washing your clothes just wears them out - especially if your using hot water. Using the dryer on HI isn't good for them either.
And BTW, sweat doesn't ruin your clothes. Your deodorant does.
