    it continues...

    The kotatsu run down:

Table: dimensions: 30in x 30 x 14. I would really like a square one, but I don't think I can make that happen without a lot of work or money. Ideally I want something with a removable top. Since no one in the states wants a coffee table with a removable top, it will have to be a hack job if I buy it here. I hoping to find something that I can assemble wrong. Such as: Target table, Ikea Lack table. This one would require some cutting (and it a little pricey) but it's square. There are other options but I think I would have to go to Ikea to figure it out what would work. Buying from Japan is just costly: $100 table, $220 in shipping.

Heater: A 120v kotatsu heater is $200. A 100v heater $50 + a converter $40 is $90 + shipping. I would need a solid state converter according to Radio Shack. Converter input: 120v output: 100v. Converter options. Non-traditional heater options: Heating pads and mats.

    Conclusions:
    1) I can buy a Japanese table with heater and a converter: almost $400

    2) I can buy a Japanese heater and converter then make a table: $200-$300

    3) I can buy an Americanized table and heater: over $400

    4) I can hack out a table and a heater mat: $160-$260
